What Is An Eyelid Lift?

The eyes are a major focal point on the face and often one of the first features people notice about you. Unfortunately, many individuals suffer from an excess of skin around the eyes, creating a tired and unflattering look. Dr. Jose Rodriguez performs blepharoplasty (also known as an eyelid lift or eyelid surgery) to elevate and tighten the upper or lower eyelid, creating a more "alert" look. Countless men and women have eyelid surgery with Dr. Rodriguez to correct sagging skin, leading to improved functionality and facial appearance. Whether it's focused on the upper lids, lower lids, or both, eyelid surgery can be a great option for creating subtle yet noticeable improvements in your overall look. If you are interested in rejuvenating your eyes by removing excess skin, contact us to schedule a consultation with Dr. Rodriguez at our practice in San Diego, CA.

How Does Eyelid Surgery Work?

Eyelid surgery can be carried out on the upper lid, lower lid, or both, depending on the amount of skin being removed. Each approach creates its own effect:

  • Upper
Upper blepharoplasty assists in diminishing the folds of skin that impair vision to produce a more flattering look. An incision is usually made along the lash line or crease to remove skin and tissue.

  • Lower
Lower blepharoplasty is performed to improve puffy skin underneath the lower eyelid. In most cases, an incision is made along the lash line to allow access to remove tissue and fat, and the skin is gently lifted to create a softer, flatter look.
